An
Invitation to Join
There is no cost to be a member of the Access Project. Our only shared
cost is the fact that many Louisianians are denied access to first-rate
health because they are poor and/or women. Our primary concern is making
sure Louisiana women have the best available health care at any age.
The Women’s Health Access Project is a collaborative voice to
address this concern during the Legislative Session. We are inviting
you to join a discussion about such an effort and offer an objective
we can share in improving women’s health access. We do not exist
to surplant or compete with your existing organization, but to add support.
During the Legislative Session, lobbyist Russell Henderson has agreed
to provide our respective organizations with information about the status
of women’s health issues through an email update. This will enable
us to mobilize shared networks to inform legislators about our constituents’
concerns and anticipated outcomes.
Additionally, the Louisiana Women’s Network will assist with contacting
the news media on behalf of our organizations and our concerns, when
so requested. The Network will help with communications, logistics,
advocacy coordination and information distribution, to the extent it
is able.
Together, we can be a team working with one voice to promote long-term
solutions in Louisiana about healthcare and see them through to completion.
Here’s what you do:
The Project is open to any organization that shares these goals and
believes it can benefit from or contribute to the effort. Members simply
lend their name and grassroots support, or be more proactive in their
involvement. It is up to you.
There will be quarterly steering committee meetings to help identify
policy positions and priorities. Advocacy efforts will be directed by
Mr. Henderson, and the lead actor will be the organization with the
most at stake.
